What is GPA , CGPA , Drop and withdraw.

Dear Friends.

Here is the explanations for the terms mentions in the title.

-Grade Point Average (GPA):

is a summary statistic that represents a student's average performance in their studies for
one (1) semester only.

-Cumulative Grade Point Average(CGPA)

the average of Grade Points obtained in all the subjects from the first semester to the

current one.

-Drop:

is to Drop Subjects from your Current semester when it's still early and by doing so the

subject will be taken out completely .

-Withdraw:

it's similar to Drop but this one can be done when the semester is already near to it's half or

very close to final exams. subjects Withdraw-ed will still be in your exam results but it will

not contribute in the Semester GPA and will only be showed as TD (Withdraw-ed).

again if you need more information, Don't hesitate to ask me.

Good luck!

CO-CURRICULUM CLASSES

Dear Friends.

CO-CURRICULUM classes are activity classes required to be taken by the university.

You have a big list of choices to chose from.

here is something you need to know.

-For students who have to take CO-CURRICULUM classes for 3 semesters:
you can chose between taking 3 semesters activity. eg.. KARATE, TAEKWANDO.... etc.
or you can chose 1 normal activity for 1 semester and 2 semesters activity. eg.. ROVER. RED CROSS.... etc.

-For students who are only required to take 1 CO-CURRICULUM class:
you can chose anything you like.

Check for the curriculum time table every week in the portal to check the time and the location.

NOTE:
If you take 3 semesters or 2 semesters activity please make sure that:

1-you register the correct level of the curriculum class.

2- you continue with your current selection, if you stop and chose other curriculum, the previous unfinished curriculum will not be counted. eg what to do ( KARATE 1 , 2 ,3 ) not (Karate 1, taekwando  1,2)

Again if you have any inquires, Don't hesitate to ask me.
Good luck

IMPORTANT: Engineering skills

Dear Friends.

Some of you will be taking this course on 1st semester, some will take it on 2nd semester.

You need to pay attention to what i am going to explain.

-it is very easy to for you to get a very good mark which will contribute in a high amount of marks.

-it is very easy for you to get a very bad mark as well.

here is the list for the DOs and the DON'Ts

DOs:
- Print out all the lab modules which can be found in the portal.(if you don't know how to use the portal just ask any senior)

-always bring your UniMAP jacket.(for your safety)(and your marks lol )

-have your breakfast before entering the lab.

DON'Ts:
-don't be absent at any cost, this course is all about the attendance, skipping one class might result for you to get a bad mark.(if you are sick you have to bring a Medical Check-up).

-Don't forget your lab module.

-Finish your job no matter what!

Now to the very important part!!lab supervisors will mostly use Bahasa Malay all the time. Don't get mad and try to understand from his actions since he will be performing a demo in front of you. you can ask your malay classmates for explanation if you like.
You can't do anything about it! Don't think about reporting the lab supervisors
just attend the classes and do your best, you will get a good mark.
go report them and fight with them and will fail miserably.

As usual if you need more information, Don't hesitate to contact me.

Good luck !

Are The lecturers using Bahasa Malaysia language during class ?

Dear Friends.

If you ever encounter this problem in your class, Please calm down.

it's very normal for some lecturers to use "Bahasa Malaysia" during classes, Sometimes to tell a joke
sometimes to explain a certain point which the students couldn't understand while it was explained in English.

if you didn't understand that point as well, you can simply ask your international class mates to explain it to you, if you have no international class mates or they couldn't understand as well, just ask the lecturer "Politely" to explain it again. the lecturer will not refuse.

in another case, if the lecturer is using too much "Bahasa Malaysia", you can always tell him after class "Polity" that your Bahasa Malaysia is very weak and you couldn't understand anything.

Accept what the lecturers suggests to you. Usually most lecturers will stop speaking in Bahasa Malaysia or will decrease it greatly.
Some might suggest that he will explain the same thing in Bahasa Malaysia and English Language. if you feel unsatisfied with his English explanations you can always ask him\her "Politely" for more explanation after class or raise your hand and ask him directly if he ask the students for any questions.

You can always visit the lecturer at his\her office if you need any help, just make sure to contact them before heading to their office.

if the lecturer ignores you completely and refuses to explain in English in any how, Contact your RPS. Just remember, Be polite and not angry when you discuss your situation with your RPS.
Your RPS can always help you by giving you useful advises and solutions.

in the end all what you need to know is that you are in Malaysia, you can't force your language over other nations , you just be nice with them and you will get the knowledge  you are seeking.

And again if you need more information, Don't hesitate to contact me.

Good luck.
